Cole McCauley is from Saint Joseph, Missouri. Christ revealed himself to Cole while he was in college. He was saved from a life of addiction to drugs, drinking, and whatever else gave him sensations. After being born again, Cole was taught what it meant to follow Christ through Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU) at Northwest Missouri State University. There, Cole came to know the truth and love of Christ personally. After time and time again striving for obedience to Gods word and seeing the promises of the Bible come true, Cole knew He was being called to proclaim this truth to ALL people.
While Cole was finishing college, God grew a passion in him for evangelism and discipleship. Cole pursued Collegiate ministry for a year, then God led him in a different direction. While Cole was working with people who had disabilities, God taught him what it meant to unconditionally love and care for people who can't do so for themselves. Here, God also taught Cole how to lead a household and a team of people to care and provide for the needs of others.
Cole took his first mission trip to Casa De Mi Padre in the summer of 2014. There, Cole fell in love with every aspect of the ministry. He saw opportunity for much ministry in Quiché and had experienced the beginnings of many great relationships with the kids. God had given him a clear calling, so he faithfully followed. In the spring of 2015, Cole took a 3-month discernment trip to Casa De Mi Padre where God confirmed his calling. He has been with Child Rescue ever since.
Sarah is also from St. Joseph, Missouri, and grew up less than a mile away from Cole, but they didn’t meet each other until 2017. Sarah was active at First Baptist Church of Saint Joseph for several years in children’s ministry and playing the piano and violin for services. Before marrying Cole and moving to Guatemala in January of 2018, Sarah worked as a music teacher and accompanist at St. Joseph Christian School, and previously she was an orchestra director for the St. Joseph Public School District and was the conductor of the Symphonic Youth Orchestra in St. Joseph. For several years, she taught violin and piano lessons to kids age three through high school, jobs which helped prepare her to work with a wide age range of kids. Sarah also worked as the operations manager of the Saint Joseph Symphony, a job that gave her valuable experience with working for a non-profit organization, keeping financial records, and donor relations. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Missouri Western State University, her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Assessment from Park University, and her Educator’s Certificate from the Association of Christian Schools International.
In 2026, Cole and Sarah became the directors of Casa de Mi Padre as the founder Shane Sanderson took on the role of Director Emeritus. Cole's top priorities are to seek God daily, to spend time in His presence asking for wisdom and guidance for his leadership, and to pray over the children and staff of the children’s homes. Cole is responsible for making sure all staff know what is expected of them and that they are taking care of the children well. He oversees child discipline and teachings. Along with other administrative tasks, Cole provides daily childcare for the many kids at Casa, advocates for the children in custody hearings in the court system, drive kids to medical appointments and treatments in other cities, and looks for ways to share the gospel with anyone who comes across his path. The McCauley's are responsible for raising all the funding needed to run the children's home, for construction of the new Casa de Mi Padre campus (so they don't have to continue renting the boys' home and school), for their own family to be able to serve on the mission field, and for 4 young ladies in the Advance Program. Sarah helps Cole with support raising, bookkeeping, and publishing their monthly prayer letters.
Cole and Sarah have five children of their own, Patrick, Elizabeth, Lucy, Chloe, and Evan. They have also opened their home over the years to young people in the ADVANCE program who age out of Casa de Mi Padre at age 18 and need a place to stay while they continue their studies. Currently, Lucrecia and Reyna are living the the McCauley family.
